Flores Adventure Tour

Traveling in Flores is mostly categorized as an adventure. It's because of the long windy road, and Mountains. In addition, the distance from one region to another is around 4 hours drive. That's why it needs minimum 6 days to explore Flores island.

The trans Flores has been very well done that the government always looks after quiet seriously  but when you get to the places on country side you will find it more adventurous as the road is very bumpy.

The travelers have some choices for driving on Flores. It can be with car, truck, bemo, and motorbike. Almost all the tourist destinations on Flores can be reached by car. This is quite good option for people who have limited time to spend for their holiday. 
Having Bemo, trucks, and motorbike are mostly taken by some travelers who have long visit and they want to experience of being locals.

Like two girls, Natalie and Laura from England they chose to get on motorbike to visit Waerebo. They said that "we prefer to take on motorbike because you can stop whenever and wherever you want and then you can even see more, friendly people, shouting children, taking photos. The view is just great, it's so sad if we miss them, Laura added.

It took 4 hours to Dintor for stop to overnight.
The tour should have done in 3 hours but the motorbike got flat tire. Fortunately, there was a man who kindly repaired the tire. While waiting for the motorbike got repaired, there were kids coming to see us. They were very engaged and enthusiastic. Smile and laughing are their language to show their interests. They asked Laura and Natalie to take photos. One of the kids said if she wants to be like a "Bule", an Indonesian language for white men because she loves to have long sharp nose. 

Judit, a Hungarian Solo traveler chose motorbike to explore Manggarai. Even though Judit can't drive motorbike but she was very happy to be on my backside. She spent 5 days to visit Waerebo and other Manggaraian tribes. She went also to see Caci whip fight dance and the Manggaraian wedding party. 

"Manggarai is very unique, the culture is totally different from one another. I have never seen in my life such a tough game like this, Judit said after watching Caci.

Flores is developing right now in its tourism since Komodo has become the 7 wonders of nature. This will give many opportunities to people to have better life but I do hope the tradition stays as it is because that what makes us rich and unique.

Tradisi doa Rosario yang dilaksanakan setiap dua kali setahun pada Bulan Mei dan Oktober bagi kami di Flores atau mungkin di tempat lain sungguh sebuah momen yang tidak bisa dilewati begitu saja. Sembahyang giliran dari rumah ke rumah menjadi momen saling jumpa untuk mendaraskan doa Rosario lima peristiwa dan setelahnya kami menikmati suguhan kopi, teh, air putih panas ditambah dengan aneka kue atau ubi yang semuanya dinikmati sambil menukar cerita merayakan perjumpaan di tengah kesibukan pekerjaan harian. Saya sendiri adalah warga KBG Mater Boni Consili (MBC) Paroki Kumba, Ruteng yang terdiri dari 34 kepala keluarga. Saya memang tidak intens mengikuti doa Rosario setiap malam tapi cukup lah bila tidak sedang menemani tamu melakukan tur, saya sudah pasti hadir bersama dengan warga yang lain ikut berdoa Rosario. Pada bulan Oktober kemarin (tidak rasa su masuk November) doa Rosario selama sebulan itu berjalan tidak jauh berbeda dengan bulan-bulan Rosario sebelumnya di mana setiap malam

Conference Trip to Timor; More Than Just A Trip For Work, Giving Unexpected Bonuses.

               It has been a while since the last time I shared my travel stories in this blog. The story to Todo village with Indonesian travelers in January 2022 was the last time I could put marks on this platform, if you wonder why, it is simply because my visit to Timor has come beyond my expectations.      Traveling to Timor is not my first time, some of my friends thought it was my first time to Timor, even a close friend of mine, Maria from Poland who has been to Flores three times worried if it would be my first time to get on the plane, away from Ruteng. The maniac’s machete gleamed in the moonlight as he ran slashing madly from house to house through the village, his terrifying screams resounding through the lanes. Panicked villagers fled wildly as his manic screams never stopped, until finally the cool hand of my roommate slowly shook me out of my nightmare as he passed by my bed. I was woken earlier than usual from my deep sleep, a very satisfying one which was unusual while I was away from home, but fractured by a combination of dreams connected to facts. The screams in my dreams actually came from neighbours drinking “ sopi ” (a local alcoholic drink) from their “Penti” thanksgiving ceremony.
